NPFL Super 6: Enyimba hold off Rivers United to lift 9th title

NPFL Super 6 ended in fanfare with Enyimba and their fans set all night after holding off Rivers United on the final day of the season.

Enyimba International have been crowned the Champions of Nigeria for the 2022/2023 NPFL season. 

The People’s Elephant won their ninth NPFL title after an entertaining 1-1 draw against Rivers United on the final day of the Super 6 Playoffs on Sunday.

Ekene Awazie opened the scoring for Enyimba after a defensive mix-up at the back for Rivers United, who equalised in the second half thanks to Nyima Nwagua. 

In what was a game of two halves, Finidi George and his Elephants held on for the one point that was enough to seal the title.
