Shooting Stars forward Sikiru Alimi has expressed his excitement following his first league goal of the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season in his side's 1-1 draw with Bendel Insurance on Sunday.
The result meant that the Ibadan club pushed themselves further away from possible relegation, taking their points haul to 22 after 17 matches.

Reacting to the draw, Alimi who has endured a difficult start to his Shooting Stars career following a recurring calf injury, revealed that he was happy to have ended the goal drought.
“I feel elated, very excited and very happy for scoring my first goal of the season. I have waited so long for this moment and thank God it finally came," Alimi said after the game according to ACL Sports.
"I want to say congratulations to myself, my teammates, and our coaches. We really worked hard for this. The team’s image was at stake, so we needed it to keep pushing on because we really want to finish on a high, so we are grateful to God for this result," the 27-year-old added.

Shooting Stars to welcome Enyimba on final day
The Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan will play host to Shooting Stars' final game of the season with Enyimba, expected to hold on Sunday, May 14. While for Shooting Stars, there would be no particular expectations, the case would be different for their visitors.
Enyimba who are currently second in Group A, will on the final day of the season, hope they can secure a place in the NPFL Super 6 by securing either a draw or win against Shooting Stars.
In their reverse meeting earlier in the season, Enyimba defeated Shooting Stars 2-0 in Aba.
