Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Remo Stars have had their official Twitter account hacked as they prepare to wrap up their 2023 season.
The NPFL has in recent years, experienced a massive rise in clubs using social media as a tool for disseminating information as well as, fan engagement.

Remo Stars working on retrieving hacked account
In an official statement on Wednesday, the Ikenne club confirmed that they had been hacked on Twitter, adding that they were working towards regaining access to the account.
"Our previous Twitter account has been hacked," the club said in a statement published on a newly-created account @RemoStarsSC.
"We urge our followers not to interact or send DM to the account for now as we work on getting it back. We also urge our followers to help report the account.
Thanks for your continued support to the Sky Blue Star," the statement concluded.

Remo Stars edging closer to Super 6
The Ikenne club will hope that they can finish the 2023 NPFL season on a good note by securing a place in the NPFL Super 6 playoff.
Remo Stars currently sit in third place in Group A with 30 points from 17 matches and would need to win their final game of the season against Kwara United to secure a place in the playoffs.
The Super 6 playoff will be comprised of the top three performing teams from the two league groups, with the series, deciding what teams would represent Nigeria in next season's CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, and who would be crowned the league champion.
