In a video shared across the team’s platforms, Papa Daniel recounted his shock at seeing his name on the provisional 39-man list.
“I never expected it. I was just doing my thing,” he said. “When I saw the provisional list, I was shocked. I was like ‘Oh, okay’. And when I saw the 23-man list, I was very happy. Thanks to God, it’s not easy to be here.”

The midfielder, who also helped the Super Eagles B team qualify for CHAN after a six-year absence, described the experience as a dream come true.
“Seeing the big boys in camp, my first time with the Super Eagles, I was so happy,” he added. “It’s motivation to do more, show what I have, and stay humble.”

Papa Daniel praised the squad’s camaraderie, noting that the established stars have made him and the other home-based player, Bankole, feel right at home.
“They’re all friendly, we the home-based never feel like we are not among them.”

As Nigeria prepares to face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in the qualifiers, Papa Daniel’s journey from the NPFL to the national team spotlight, while unexpected, is kudos to his talent and determination.
