The Nationwide League One (NLO), Nigeria's third-tier domestic football league, has secured a major boost with a staggering N964 million sponsorship deal from the New Year Mega Lottery.

This significant partnership, announced on March 14th, 2024, will see the New Year Mega Lottery become the official title sponsor of the NLO for the next four seasons.

The agreement, signed at a ceremony in Abuja, guarantees the NLO an annual payment of N241 million in cash and value-in-kind. This translates to a total investment of N964 million over the next four years.

Elevating Grassroots Football

This collaboration aims to significantly elevate the status of grassroots football in Nigeria. With this injection of funds, the NLO hopes to solidify its position as a breeding ground for football talent and become a thriving and attractive league on the continent.

The former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State said, "New Year Mega Lottery is a Nigerian firm and lottery company licensed by the Nigeria Lottery Commission; they will be our title sponsor for the NLO.

"The sponsorship deal will run for four seasons and cost two hundred and forty-one million naira (N241, 000, 000) annually (both cash and value in kind). With the annual payment totaling N964, 000, 000, 00 (Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Million Naira),.

“This sponsorship recognises NLO not just as a football body but also acknowledges our position as the league with the single-biggest football talent base in Africa.”
