In a grand gesture of recognition and appreciation, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has bestowed upon Super Eagles' sensation, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, the prestigious Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State.

This accolade, ranking second only to the Grand Service Star of Rivers State, celebrates Nwabali's standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire, marking him as a national hero.

Rising Star on the Continental Stage

Stanley Nwabali's meteoric rise to fame was solidified following his exceptional display at the AFCON tournament. Without a single competitive cap for the Super Eagles before the tournament's commencement, Nwabali quickly became a cornerstone of the team's success, contributing significantly with four clean sheets.

His efforts were instrumental in propelling Nigeria to the final for the first time in over a decade, earning him the adoration of millions of fans and solidifying his status as one of the tournament's finest goalkeepers.

Honors and Rewards

The recognition from Governor Fubara adds to Nwabali's growing list of accolades, including the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) honour previously awarded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Peseiro and Finidi were also honored with a gift of N30 million, highlighting the collective achievements of the team and its management.
