Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused sub as Leicester City and Brighton played out an entertaining draw on Saturday.

Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were missing in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw against Brighton in their Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Iheanacho, who came on as a substitute in the loss to Nottingham Forest sat on the bench for the game throughout, while Ndidi was not in the matchday squad.

First half spoils shared

Leicester went into the match on the back of four consecutive loss in the Premier League while Brighton were riding on a high after beating Liverpool 3-0 last week.

As expected, the Seagulls dominated the major share of possession in the early stages, with Leicester happy to sit back and hit on the counter.

However, the plan came back to haunt them as Brighton took the lead in the 27th minute through a special from Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japanese star put Roberto de Zerbi’s men ahead with a stunning curler that left Danny Ward gasping for air. Brighton continued to dominate the play but could not add to their lead.

The Seagulls paid for their failure to extend their lead as Marc Albrighton, who came on for Dennis Praet, levelled scores for Leicester to ensure the first half ended with the scores tied.

More of the same in the second half

The second half followed a similar pattern as the first, with Brighton dominating possession. The Seagulls had a penalty shout after Danny Welbeck was brought down in the box but the shout was waived off by the referee, who had played an advantage.

Moments later, Solly March had a big chance to put Brighton ahead but the 28-year-old miscued his effort with the goal at his mercy. He would later rue the missed chance as Leicester took the lead through a close-range finish from Harvey Barnes following a corner kick.

But luckily for Brighton, substitute Evan Ferguson salvaged a point for De Zerbi’s men with a header that flew past Ward.
