The 22-year-old Nigerian striker has gone through the knife, although his return date is unknown.
Super Eagles hopeful Tolu Arokodare has undergone successful surgery on his knee after picking up an injury last weekend.
Arokodare picked up a knee injury in Genk’s 3-0 win over KV Oostende in their Belgian League clash last weekend.
Arokodare's surgery success
The former Amiens striker was taken off ten minutes into the match before going down the tunnel.
Following the match, it was confirmed that Arokodare injured his knee and would be out for a period of time.
Although Genk revealed there was no ligament damage, Arokodare still had to undergo surgery on his knee.
According to the doctor who operated on the Nigerian striker, Arokodare had to undergo surgery because he suffered wear and tear.
“There are degenerative and acute cracks. The first cracks are mainly caused by wear and tear and must be treated with Surgery, Physiotherapy and medication,” the doctor said.
Arokodare's return unknown
But despite his successful surgery, Arokodare’s return date is unknown, with the doctor saying that depends on his recovery process.
The 22-year-old’s injury is a big blow for him, having joined the Belgian club from Amiens in January.
Arokodare joined Genk following the departure of his countryman, Paul Onuachu, who signed for Southampton.
The Super Eagles hopeful got off to a good start in Belgium with one goal and one assist in his four league games.
His injury is also a blow for Genk, who currently lead the Belgian League table in the regular season.
However, The Smurfs will be hoping Arokodare returns in time for the playoffs as they attempt to win the Belgian league title.
