Tottenham were looking to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League against rival Chelsea.

However, they met a very determined Chelsea side who thrashed the home side 4-1 on the night.

Tottenham opened the scoring early on in the game with Dejan Kulusevski's strike before Chelsea equalised through Cole Palmer from the penalty spot.

Nicolas Jackson then scored a hattrick in the second half to give Chelsea a comfortable win against Tottenham.

As it happened

Two changes for Tottenham from the side that began the 2-1 win at Crystal Palace back as Destiny Udogie and Brennan Johnson come in for Ben Davies and Richarlison.

Mauricio Pochettino made three changes to the Chelsea starting XI from the 2-0 Carabao Cup fourth-round win over Blackburn Rovers.

Levi Colwill, Thiago Silva and Moises Caicedo came in and Marc Cucurella, Benoit Badiashile and Lesley Ugochukwu out.

The game started with the home team Tottenham dominating and pushing for the first goal which they got in the first 10 minutes.

Tottenham was given lots of space on the right and Dejan Kulusevski cut inside and fired a shot towards goal.

It took a big deflection off the unfortunate Levi Colwill and flew into the back of the net leaving Sanchez with no chance.

Tottenham scored the second goal shortly after but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a marginal offside.

Chelsea got back into the game with the equaliser but was ruled out by VAR due to a handball in the build-up.

The Blues did not give up and got another goal shortly after when a scrambled ball fell into the path of Caicedo whose shot was deflected by Jackson into the back of the net.

The goal was checked by VAR and was ruled out for offside. However, another review showed that a bad tackle was made by Romero in the box.

The referee was called to the screen and after the review, the referee gave Romero a red card and awarded Chelsea a penalty.

Guglielmo Vicario dived the correct way and got his fingertips to Cole Palmer's penalty but the ball squeezed with the first half ending in a draw.

The second half started and Tottenham collected their second red card of the game and reduced to nine men.

Destiny Udogie was shown a second yellow for a foul on Raheem Sterling and Tottenham are down to nine men.

Chelsea created more chances but missed a lot of those chances. However, the Blues got the lead late on in the game.

Raheem Sterling broke through the Tottenham high line and raced towards the box before squaring to Nicolas Jackson for a tap-in.

The Blues kept knocking for the third goal and it came at the right time. Chelsea goes immediately up the other end as Nicolas Jackson taps in Conor Gallagher's cross.

The fourth goal came in shortly after the third goal went in. Nicolas Jackson was again through on goal, he hesitates as he thinks about a pass when he gets into the box but in the end that helps him get the ball around Guglielmo Vicario before he slots into the empty net.
