Harvey Barnes has officially been signed by Newcastle from Leicester after several weeks of negotiations.

Following Leicester's relegation to the Championship, Barnes has already clinched a move to Eddie Howe's team.

Newcastle signed the Leicester forward for a fee of  £38 million as they look to bolster their chances of challenging next season.

Barnes told Newcastle's official website as reported by Daily Mail, “I'm delighted. It's an amazing club and for me, it's a massive opportunity to come and be involved in a successful team that's doing exciting things, so I'm absolutely buzzing to be here.

“I think it's an attacker's dream to come into a team like this; it's high-paced, it's physically demanding, but you can see the rewards of that with the chances and the goals scored, so I think I'll certainly suit the style.”

Eddie Howe welcomes Barnes

Newcastle boss Howe added, “Harvey is an exciting talent who I have admired for a long time so I'm delighted to welcome him to Newcastle United.

“He will add a different element to our play and we look forward to working with him as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Allan Saint-Maximin, who is anticipated to quit and join Saudi Arabian team Al Ahli this summer, will be replaced by Harvey Barnes.

Newcastle United are looking to build on last season's performance and are doing everything possible in the transfer market to bring in the right players to help them improve next season.
