Marc Cucurella, a Chelsea defender, is reportedly on Newcastle's radar as the Blues continue their offload.

The Spanish defender recently made a £60 million switch from Brighton to the Blues last summer.

However, the Blues ended 12th in the Premier League during his first season in west London, failing to live up to the price tag.

Chelsea are currently offloading loads of their players and Cucurella could be among the set of players who could leave this summer.

Newcastle looking to sign Cucurella

Newcastle are looking to replace Dan Burn as a full-back and have picked Cucurella as their next target.

According to reports from Talk Sports, Mauricio Pochettino, who will take over as manager of Chelsea, may be likely to give the go-ahead for Cucurella's departure as he works to trim down his too-large squad.

Chelsea might be compelled to accept a sale for £30 million, or half of what they spent for him, as they continue their summer offload.

Newcastle are also in talks with Arsenal for the signing of Kieran Tierney but the deal is yet to materialise.

Cucurella struggled at Chelsea

Cucurella failed to meet up with the standard at Chelsea and struggled in his first season at the club.

The 24-year-old missed the remaining seven games of the season due to an injury, and Ben Chilwell beat him out for the starting left-back position.

In certain instances, he was even utilised at centre back in a back three formation to accommodate him.

Newcastle, who can provide him Champions League football, reportedly wants to wrest him away from Stamford Bridge according to reports from the Mirror.
