Thomas Tuchel was heavily linked with Manchester United in the last couple of days but reports have since revealed that the German is poised to join the England national team as manager.

England-bound manger Thomas Tuchel has revealed his reason for opting for the Three Lions role and shunning the Manchester United role.

Tuchel was heavily linked with red side of Manchester before reports emerged that he had been appointed as England manager.

With the future of Red Devil’s boss Ten Hag a doubt, the 13-time Premier League champions have been in the market for potential replacement for the Dutch man with reports suggesting that the club was looking at the former Chelsea boss.

Tuchel has since come out to reveal his reason for going with the England job instead of United.

“Well, I like the idea here at the FA and the way their CEO Mark presented it,” said Tuchel as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano when questioned on why he chose England over United

“That was a decision for this job, and not against anyone else or any club,” he assured.

Sky Germany reported that Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract with the Football Association (FA), starting on January 1.

The decision follows swift progress in talks between Tuchel and the Football Association (FA )on Tuesday.

The German tactician becomes the third non-English manager to take on the role, following Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.

Tuchel's accolades include winning the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea from January 2021 to September 2022.

He is also a two-time Ligue 1 champion with Paris Saint-Germain, where he led the team to both the French Cup and the Champions League final against Bayern in August 2022, although they lost 1-0.

In his last position as head coach of Bayern Munich, he won the league title in the 2022/23 season.

Meanwhile the Red Devils continue their league campaign with Ten Hag still in charge as they host Brentford at Old Trafford.

United currently place 14th on the log standings in the English Premier League with 8 points, having won 2 matches, drawn 2 and lost 3.
