Coaches Michael 'Skills' Lukyamuzi and his counterpart Dudu Bosco were left with different opinions as the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) beat Calvary 1-0 to ascend the summit of the StarTimes FUFA Big League on Thursday at the Bugolobi Coffee grounds.
The match climaxed in dramatic fashion as the Bugolobi side benefitted from a late refereeing decision that awarded them a penalty which their captain Marvin Kavuma ably planted in for the three points.
Gideon Odong had taken responsibility for a throw-in in the 88th minute but Calvary's keeper Hadji Sukuru fumbled with it sending it back to play.
Ivan Kamoga picked the pieces and picked out Sulaiman Ssesazi inside a crowded six-yard box for the striker to head in.
However, Aggrey Atandu blocked the ball before Sukuru retrieved it from the line.
Confusion clouded the air as the hosts claimed for a handball which, on second opinion from his second assistant Ayub Kamba, the centre referee Henry Byaruhanga awarded it. Calvary opposed but Kavuma was calm enough to convert it.
"We are very disappointed," Dudu, the Calvary head coach ranted after the game, he added
"Some circumstances happen but others are unacceptable. You can't award a penalty at that time when everyone sees that there wasn't any but we take the result.”
"I coached, my players did their part but the game was decided by someone else," he reasoned.
His opposite Lukyamuzi lauded Calvary's defense foe keeping them checked for most parts of the game and his players for relentlessly pushing to the end.
"We created many chances in the first half but Calvary defended well. I told them to keep pushing and at last the energy was paid," a relieved Lukyamuzi lauded.
