Chelsea could be handed an advantage in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen as Napoli seek Romelu Lukaku in exchange
Victor Osimhen could be used as a bargaining chip for Napoli to land their preferred summer target Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
Osimhen is being courted by several clubs ahead of a possible summer transfer, but the Blues could be given preferential treatment by Napoli to help them secure Lukaku’s signature.
Osimhen courted by multiple clubs
The Nigerian striker has been the talk of the town throughout the summer transfer window, and has gained interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Osimhen has reportedly agreed a deal in principle with PSG, but the move has stalled due to a difference in valuation between the French champions and Napoli, who have insisted on getting full value for their striker’s release clause.
Interest from PSG has cooled thanks to Napoli’s tough stance, and although the partenopei could be tempted to soften their asking price, they are only willing to do so for another club.
Napoli offer Chelsea Osimhen chance
As Napoli are condemned to losing Osimhen already, they have set their sights on Chelsea’s Lukaku as a replacement for the Nigerian striker.
Lukaku is Napoli’s favourite for the job, having played under current manager Antonio Conte, and this could push them to allow a lower fee plus the Belgian striker in exchange for Osimhen, a gesture they have refused for other clubs.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are willing to re-open talks with Chelsea for Osimhen even as they plan a transfer for Lukaku to move the other way.
In addition to Chelsea’s interest, Premier League runners-up Arsenal have also approached Napoli for Osimhen, hoping to beat their rivals to the Nigerian striker’s signature.
