In a day where Mara Sugar were coronated as NSL champions, Naivas FC secured a playoff spot for FKF Premier League promotion.

Naivas FC has clinched a playoff spot for FKF Premier League promotion following a crucial 1-0 victory over SS Assad in Ukunda on Sunday.

The decisive goal came from former Sofapaka FC striker Robert Karisa, securing Naivas’ place ahead of Nairobi United.

Nairobi United also emerged victorious delivering a resounding 7-0 win against relegated Silibwet in Bomet.

Despite their impressive performance, they fell short by just one point, finishing fourth with 75 points, compared to Naivas’ 76 points.

With the regular season concluded, Naivas FC will now face the 2009 champions, Sofapaka, in a high-stakes league playoff.

Meanwhile, Kajiado FC's hopes of remaining in the league were dashed following a 2-0 defeat to Gusii FC.

The match, which experienced delays due to the unavailability of an ambulance, ultimately sealed Kajiado’s relegation to Division One.

The playoff matches between Naivas FC and Sofapaka are scheduled to be held in two legs.

The first leg will take place on Saturday July 6 followed by the second leg on Sunday July 14.

These matches will determine whether Naivas FC can achieve their dream of competing in the FKF Premier League.

In individual accolades, Nairobi United’s Henry Omollo emerged as the top scorer for the 2023/24 season, netting an impressive 17 goals.

He narrowly beat out former Mara Sugar forward Philemon Nyakwaka, Kisumu Allstars’ Michael Karamor, and Mombasa Elite’s Emmanuel Lunalo, who all tied for second place with 16 goals each.
