She had two years left in her contract with the four-time FKF Women's Premier League champions.
Former Vihiga Queens midfielder Joan Nabirye has joined Uganda top tier side Kampala Queens on a six-month deal.
The 24-year-old joined Vihiga Queens in February 2020 from FUFA Women's Super League side Asubo Gafford Ladies.
Nabirye recently parted ways with the Vihiga Queens under unclear circumstances.
Kampala Queens has since snapped the player and the club made the announcement on its Twitter page on Saturday morning.
"We are proud to announce the signing of midfielder Joan Nabirye from Kenyan side Vihiga Queens FC. Welcome to the Palace Joan," the club statement read.
Nabirye was heavily linked with a move to Ugandan side She Corporate, but the move fell through as both sides failed to agree to terms.
She was instrumental for Vihiga Queens in their run to the inaugural CAF Women Champions League, featuring prominently in the CECAFA regional qualifiers.
At Vihiga Queens, she earned her first call-up to the Ugandan national team for the 2021 COSAFA Cup.
She managed to score her maiden goal for Crested Cranes when she netted the first goal of the match in their 5-1 rout over Eswatini in their second Group C match.
Nabirye was part of the Uganda national team squad in the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
She becomes Kampala Queens' first mid-season major signing and is expected to make her league debut in match aganist She Coprates.
Kampala Queens sits top of the FUFA Women's Super League with 33 points out of the 11 games played this season.
