Muyoti is unhappy with the rate at which his side lost concentration in critical moments of the game.

Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti has slammed his side’s poor defending in their 4-2 loss to Kenya Police FC in their league encounter which took place at the Police Sacco Stadium on Wednesday.

Muyoti was unhappy with the rate at which his side lost concentration in critical moments of the game defensively, with his side conceding two goals because of the lapses.

“Kenya Police punished our mistakes today,” he said, “ We are making very many elementary mistakes from unnecessary situations defensively,” he added.

“At the same time, we are really struggling to create chances for our goal scorers. We need to get back to the drawing board in order to try and rectify these mistakes.”

Muyoti is hopeful that his more experienced players will try and turn around the fortunes of the side, with the introduction of Ezekiel Odera after the side had gone 4-1 down helping reduce the deficit.

“The experienced substitutes (Odera and Antony “Muki” Kimani) came in to try and make a difference by calming the situation down when the result was bad. I think in the long term, their presence will be beneficial to the young players, who should learn a thing or two from them.”

Muyoti also feels that the side has work to do in transitional situations, claiming his side are not decisive enough when they win the ball.

“We have a transitional problem. That is something that has affected us. When we win the ball, we are holding on to the ball for too long allowing the opponent to regroup.

“When we lose the ball, our reaction to losing it has been poor. We need to work on that to try and see how it will make us more effective.”

City Stars find themselves languishing 16th in the league table ahead of a clash against relegation rivals Vihiga Bullets this weekend.
