Tusker suffered their fifth loss of the season at the hands of Seal, while Muhoroni failed to capitalize on their home ground advantage against Kakamega Homeboyz.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League  (FKFPL) action continued on Sunday afternoon with several matches taking place in various venues across the country.

Murang'a Seal FC played host to former champions Tusker FC at SportPesa Arena in Murang'a.

The visitors got off to the perfect start as they grabbed an early goal through John Byamukama who scored to make it 1-0 to Tusker six minutes into the game.

Murang’a had to find a way to level matters and Eric Balecho kept the Tusker defense busy as he looked to find the back of the net.

The former Mount Kenya University striker was denied by Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire just in the 15th minute.

Tusker were struggling to contain Balecho, who sent a long pass forward that Tusker defense failed to deal with and Batts Awita was at hand to collect the ball before rounding the keeper and slotting it home.

Murang’a did take a 2-0 lead at half-an-hour mark  when Tutus Kapchanga scored with a fine strike at the near post with Bwire well-beaten.

At the other end, Bonphas Munyasa  pulled off a superb save to deny James Kibande after the Seal  defense was exposed following a quick counterattack by the away side.

With his side lacking creativity, Tusker coach Robert Matano made a change 12 minutes after the restart - introducing Eric Kapaito.

The experienced forward was brought in to replace James Kibande as Tusker looked to take control of the game.

Kapaito was the brewers' livewire as he made good runs in the Seal half and he nearly restored parity  in the 71st minute.

Tusker applied some pressure on Seal in the latter stages of the game, but Adikiny and Sakari could not seriously test Boniface Munyasa’s in Murang’a goal with the hosts' defence looking solid.

Seal were able to hold on to their two-goal lead and they ran out 2-0 winners over Tusker in the  afternoon.

The result saw Murang'a remain third on the league standings while Tusker slipped to 13th place on the table with ten matches played this season.

At Muhoroni Stadium,  Kakamega Homeboyz  saw most of the ball in the opening stages of the match and they should have grabbed an early goal through Brian Wekesa.

Eston Omengo flashed the ball across the face of the Homeboyz  goal-posts and it found Moses Shumah , who placed his effort wide of the target in the 13th minute.

Muhoroni were very quick on the counter-attack and they nearly took the lead in the 28th minute against the run of play.

Stephen Burugu set-up Collins Neto , who forced  Homeboyz goalkeeper Brian Wanzala into a good low save.

Four minutes later at the other end, Homeboyz striker Felix Ochieng  tried an audacious chip over Wanzala from range.

However, the youthful custodian brilliantly finger-tipped the ball over the crossbar as the hosts searched for the opening goal.

The last chance of the first-half fell for Shami Mwinyi from a free-kick, but the veteran attacker placed his effort inches wide of the target and the score was 0-0 at the interval.

The visitors piled pressure on Muhoroni Youth after the restart with Chris Masinza replacing Shami Mwinyi.

Homeboyz efforts were rewarded in the 48th minute when Estone Esiye found the back of the net with a cool finish to make it 1-0.

Muhoroni pushed for an equalizer with coach Charles Odera having introduced Abel Otienowho was looking to bully the Homeboyz' backline.

Wanzala was forced to deal with Neto’s effort, while Kevin Okoth played a lovely ball for Wesonga whose shot narrowly missed the target.

With Muhoroni failing to take their chances upfront, they were punished at the back as Moses Shumah scored his fifth goal of the season in the 69th minute.

The hosts did not sit back to avoid soaking in more goals as they surged forward, with Christopher Raila seeing a lot of the ball in midfield and he nearly scored for Muhoroni  with three minutes left.

The long-range specialist unleashed a powerful shot which was well-saved by Wanzala  to ensure that the game ended 2-0 in favour of Kakamega Homeboyz.
