Murang’a Seal assistant coach John Njogu remains optimistic his charges can achieve their target of hitting 50 points this season despite being carved apart 3-0 by Kariobangi Sharks at the Dandora Stadium last Sunday.
Sharks, coached by Harambee Stars Assistant Coach William Muluya, were dominant all through with SEAL struggling to match their pace and skill.
Salum Ally, Keith Imbali and Andreas Odhiambo were the ones on target for Sharks, who gnawed away at the Murang’a based outfit.

Speaking to the media after the match, Njogu, who was stepping in for head coach Juma Abdallah, blamed the defeat on his charges not taking their chances enough, rather than the strategy they deployed.
“We conceded very easy goals because if you look at the first and second goals, they were very easily conceded. If you look at our approach, we had a lot of chances created and had we used them, we would have redeemed ourselves,” Njogu said after the match.
“In the second half, we found ourselves creating loads of inroads in their half, we just did not use our chances. In football, everything is about utilising your chances. That is the nature of the game.”

Njogu has admitted that his charges ‘got found out’ and must quickly rectify their mistakes moving forward if they are to achieve their target of amassing 50 points by the end of the season.
“We have to agree Kariobangi Sharks were better than us. We had our approach and it did not work as expected but we know our next game at home will give us a good chance to redeem ourselves.”
Last season, Seal, who were very impetuous with their changes in the dugout last season, having three coaches in what was their first-ever year in the top flight, amassed 38 points and finished in 13th place.
For them to better their record by 12 ponts this season, Njogu has explained what they have to do.
“We have 34 games. Already three have been played and we have 31 remaining. Our target remains because at the end of the day, those are still many matches,” he said.
“We still have a lot of hope and we know that our boys will come back strong in the next game.”
