There were a few cases of hooliganism last weekend after Gor Mahia drew with Murang'a Seal and AFC Leopards were humbled by Ulinzi Stars, with a section of fans attacking coaches at full time.
Just minutes later, Gor Mahia doubled their lead. Musa Masika rose above the crowd to send a powerful header into the top-right corner from a well-placed free-kick, leaving Murang’a trailing 2-0 before halftime.
Murang’a, however, refused to back down. The second half saw Waithera pounce on a loose ball in the 51st minute after Gor’s keeper Gad Matthews mishandled a shot. Seizing the opportunity, Waithera calmly found the net, reigniting hope for Murang’a.
Then, in a stunning last-minute twist, Elly Saenyi’s cross in the 91st minute forced another error from Matthews, who ended up palming the ball into his own goal, securing Murang’a Seal’s hard-earned point.
With this result, Murang’a Seal now sits ninth in the league, trailing the leaders KCB by 8 points. It’s a promising position for the club, especially after their recent win against another top team, AFC Leopards, whom they narrowly edged 1-0 at their home ground, Saint Sebastian Park.
