Muhoroni Youth have identified the alternative venues that will host their next five home matches following the suspension of Got Alila by the Football Kenya Federation

Muhoroni Youth have selected Kericho, Kisumu, and Homa Bay as alternative venues for their home matches following the suspension of Got Alila by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

The club was slapped with a Ksh300,000 fine and ordered to play their next five home games away from the Muhoroni Stadium and without fans after ugly scenes were witnessed in the latter stages of their contest with KCB just before the international break.

The match was abandoned in the 90th minute after a section of Muhoroni fans attacked KCB technical bench members when the Bankers were leading 1-0 at the Muhoroni Stadium.

KCB coach Bernard Mwalala was pushed to the ground, leading to a scuffle before the referee put a stop to the match.

Following the sanctions, the club began a search for alternative venues and have settled on the three towns as they await a decision from the federation on which of them will be selected, starting on October 28 when they host Murang’a Seal.

“There were a lot of things surrounding the decision which are not fair. We would like to play at Got Alila and we are doing everything possible to make that happen,” Muhoroni CEO Collince Dave told Pulse Sports.

“In case that is not possible, we have given them alternative venues in Kericho, Homa Bay, and Kisumu. We do not know where they will plan but we are comfortable to play. It is them to choose and tell us,” he added.

Wilson Kiprugut Chumo Stadium formerly known as Kericho Green Stadium, which underwent renovations before hosting the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Friday, Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu and Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay are believed to be the venues submitted by the club for consideration.

The Wilson Kiprugut Chumo Stadium has previously hosted league matches and is also the home ground of Zoo FC while the Raila Odinga Stadium hosts Shabana FC’s home matches.

Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyong’o declared the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium ready to host league matches in August, urging Gor Mahia to shift base to the venue.

Muhoroni have home matches against Murang’a, Kakamega Homeboyz, Gor Mahia, Kenya Police, and Sofapaka before they will be allowed back to Got Alila against AFC Leopards in January 2024.

The club play away to Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday and Dave is optimistic of a positive result against William Muluya’s men.

“We have had an exemplary performance, just conceded two goals against Nzoia Sugar and Tusker. We are in the form we have never been in before,” he said.

“My team will shock you tomorrow, even Kariobangi Sharks know it will not be an easy match. In fact, we are playing at Kasarani which is our favourite ground. We rarely lose there.”

Muhoroni are 14th on the table with six points after winning one, drawing three and losing two of their opening six league matches.
