The gaffer was previously in-charge of Senegalese giants AS Jaraaf.

Azam FC, the home of Kenya international midfielder Kenneth Muguna, have appointed Youssouph Dabo as their new head coach.

Dabo had been searching for a new job since leaving Senegalese giants ASC Jaraaf in early April on mutual consent.

The Tanzanian top-flight side released a statement on Tuesday night confirming the latest development on their social media handles.

"We are happy to announce Youssouph Dabo as our head coach starting next season, 2023/24.

Dabo, a citizen of Senegal, has signed a three-year contract. Welcome so much, Azam FC coach, Youssouph Dabo.”

The 43-year-old manager replaces caretaker coach Kali Ongala who took over following the exit of Frenchman Denis Lavagne.

Dabo once served as Senegalese U20 head coach and has been tasked to change the club's fortunes in the coming season.

His last game in charge at AS Jaraaf was Senegal's Ligue 1 tie against US Goree, which ended in a goalless draw.

Dabo had been in Tanzania for the past two weeks, where he had been familiarizing himself with the club players and the environment before putting pen to paper.

Azam FC is placed third in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League with 53 points, with just three matches remaining until the end of the season.

Before his appointment, there were speculations that the Chamanzi-based side was set to appoint France national Florent Ibenge as their new manager.

However, Ibenge's current employer Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan came out and denied the rumors and confirmed they still have faith in him even though their team's group stages exit in CAF Champions League.
