Explained: What the Super Eagles need against Sierra Leone to qualify for AFCON
The three-time African Champions will resume their Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying campaign this weekend, hoping to book their spot in next year’s showpiece.
Head of Marketing and Communications for Nigerian Breweries Plc Sandra Amachree was the host of the event held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
Popular Nigerian Comedian Mr Macaroni, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo and Toyin Abraham-Adedeji were in attendance as brand ambassadors of Nigerian Breweries.
Super Eagles Players Interact with Fans
One of the highlights of the event was Super Eagles players interacting with fans and revealing some of their personal fun activities.
Everton’s player of the season Alex Iwobi revealed that he has a soft spot for jollof rice and fried plantain (locally known as dodo) and that it is his favourite postmatch meal.
Super Eagles captain Williams Troost-Ekong in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, told Pulse Sports what people do not know about him.
The Salernitana defender also revealed what his tattoos mean and why he loves them so much.
“I love tattoos; that’s very obvious."
"The tattoos on my arm pay homage to my roots - being a Nigerian and spending a lot of time in Nigeria.”
Brand Ambassadors charge Super Eagles stars
Nigerian Breweries brand ambassadors present at the event commended the Super Eagles side led by captain Ahmed Musa for their dedication to their fatherland.
Furthermore, they admonished coach Peseiro’s boys to always give their best when donning the Green and White colours of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
They added that criticism from football fans, especially when results do not go our way, should not deter the boys from bringing their A-game every time they represent Nigeria.
Why I deleted my tweets before meeting Super Eagles players - Mr Macaroni
During his remark, comedian Mr Macaroni revealed that he had to delete bad comments about the Super Eagles he had posted on Twitter before he joined them for the dinner.
According to him, the action was necessary to avoid any ‘mob action’ from Nigerians on Twitter.
He said,
“When they said I am coming to interact with the Super Eagles, I first went on Twitter, typed my name and Super Eagles.”
“You know, when you do that, all the things you have said about the Super Eagles will come out. So, I deleted everything bad I had said about the Eagles before Twitter (people) would help me to carry it.”
“Now, I will snap pictures with all of you and post and Twitter way ‘oh, when you abused them, you didn't know?”
