The Portuguese tactician will not be on the touchline when his AS Roma side host the Old Lady on Sunday.
AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho will miss his team’s Serie A clash against Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.
Mourinho will miss the match after he was banned for two games and fined €10,000 for his conduct following Roma’s 2-1 defeat to Cremonese on Tuesday evening.
Mourinho pays for his conduct
The Portuguese tactician made headlines for the wrong reasons as Roma went down to a shocking defeat against the relegation-threatened side.
Mourinho was sent off just moments after the break for arguing with the fourth official Marco Serra.
It was the third time Mourinho would receive his marching orders, but he blamed Serra’s inappropriate words for his misconduct.
The ex-Chelsea man defended his conduct following the match and refused to apologise for his behaviour.
However, it has now cost him two games on the touchline and €10,000 after the Italian Football Federation went hard on him.
The 60-year-old will miss Roma’s home games against Juventus and Sassuolo, but he will be on the touchline for the Europa League clash against Real Sociedad.
Serra faces similar punishment
Mourinho was supposed to miss one game but was given an additional ban after storming the referees’ dressing room to continue his altercation with Serra.
Meanwhile, Serra also faces possible punishment for his conduct towards Mourinho. Although there is no audio recording of what he said to Mourinho, the FIGC has opened an investigation into his behaviour after Mourinho threatened legal action.
If found guilty, the official could be handed a potential ban too or demoted to Serie B, Italy’s second division.
