AFC Leopards will have to wait another one week for a positive result as they lost 1-0 to Bandari in an FKFPL match played at the Mbaraki Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Leopards had to resort to play for setpieces as has become their norm in the first half, with Jaffari Owiti looking the most likely of players to put his team in a threatening position.

In the 11th minute, he won a freekick just on the edge of the area, but upon executing it, Brian Yakhama headed the ball just wide of the net.

The game would become evenly contested for the remainder of the first half, but in the second, AFC started giving needless fouls away. One was from outside the area as they gave Bandari a chance to break the deadlock from a freekick which forced Humphrey Katasi into making a very excellent save.

Derrick Nsibambi’s goal put the hosts ahead, piling misery on an Ingwe side that found the atmosphere in Mombasa quite intimidating.

This left Ingwe fans shellshocked, with their traditionally infectious isikuti drummists pausing their energy, wondering where the win would come from, as Trucha’s charges ran out of ideas in efforts to find the equalizer.

It also did not help that the hot weather conditions prevented the game into getting into any sort of rhythm, as the referee called for regular water breaks which at least allowed Trucha to keep micromanaging his players.

However, they could not find a way to restore parity and in the end, Ingwe ran out 1-0 losers to the Dockers, which leaves them languishing perilously down in the relegation places on just four points.
