Mohammed Bajaber has been identified as the perfect replacement for the in-demand playmaker who has stalled on a new contract at the Dar es Salaam-based club.

Mohammed Bajaber may have expressed a desire to play in Europe to Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy but he is being offered a chance to move to Tanzania soon.

The Kenya Police attacker has become a hot property since moving to the law enforcers in the midseason transfer window before he elevated his status with a good outing for Harambee Stars in the World Cup qualifiers in March.

That has seen clubs take notice and it looks like Kenya Police will have a battle on their hands to keep him after this term even though he would have played for them for just half a season.

Police reportedly paid Nairobi City Stars Ksh1 million for the player’s signature and he has been repaying that fee with four goals in six games which have put him in the shop window.

Now, Pulse Sports understands Bajaber is wanted by Tanzanian club Azam FC who view him as the perfect replacement for playmaker Feisal Salum, popularly known as Fei Toto.

What would Bajaber add to Azam if he agrees to a deal?

Fei Toto’s future at Azam is uncertain as he is attracting interest from South African clubs Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as Simba SC, while he has stalled on a new contract at the club.

That has left Azam looking for a Plan B in case he does not commit his future to the club with Bajaber seen as the man capable of filling his big shoes.

A creative player with an eye for goal, Bajaber can play in the No.10 role just behind the main striker and also on both wings and it is that versatility that is making him an attractive prospect for Azam.

However, it is not known if the player will be willing to move to Tanzania, given his desire to play in Europe, or if Police would cash in just months after their big-money outlay in January.
