Ulinzi Stars held Police firm in the first half, but could not hold on as they were sank thanks to two brilliant goals by Francis Kahata and Abud Omar.

Ulinzi Stars head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani has berated his charges for lacking consistency as his side were gunned down 2-0 thanks to second-half goals by Francis Kahata and Abud Omar on Friday evening.

Ulinzi had started to pick up momentum, winning two games on the bounce, but have now lost each of their last two games, underpinning a serious lack of consistency in the side.

Speaking to the press after the match, Kimani said that, although he was pleased by the fact that Ulinzi did not give away a lot of opportunities against Police, which has an abundance of international players, his attack was blunt.

“We had planned adequately because we knew that Police would be a tough game because of the high caliber of players that they have,” Kimani said after the game.

“We tried to make sure that they would not have a lot of the ball and I think the mistake we made is that we gave them too much time in the second half.

“Their players made passes that were capable of hurting us and that was what happened today (Friday). They got their two chances and scored them. Our attack was blunt. We created few chances and the few that came up, we were not able to use them.”

Both goals were screamers, one from Kahata outside the box and another from a free kick by Abud Omar.

Kimani believes that his defensive charges limited Police to making attempts from a distance which they used, something they must learn to abate.

“We tried to ensure that our defense would not give them chances inside our box. But that is football. When you see they are not creating chances, they will try to shoot from distance and that is what happened and they ended up scoring like that.”

With the defeat, Ulinzi Stars find themselves 10th in the league on 13 points, eight behind leaders Posta Rangers but having played a game more.

They have won four, drawn one and lost six of their league fixtures this season.
