FA deems Mitrovic red card insufficient, charges the Serbian with violent and improper conduct.
Aleksandar Mitrovic has been charged by the FA with violent and improper conduct for shoving the referee, as the association deems his sending-off after the incident insufficient.
Mitrovic physically handled referee Chris Kavanagh in Fulham's 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester United after the referee gave the Red Devils a penalty and sent off ex-Chelsea star Willian.
Mitrovic faces FA charge
The BBC reports that the FA have charged Mitrovic with violent and improper conduct for manhandling the referee in their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
The Serbian striker is set to face a lengthy ban for his behaviour as the retrospective action by the FA deems the three-match ban Mitrovic was meant to face for receiving a straight red as insufficient.
"The standard punishment which would otherwise apply to Aleksandar Mitrovic for the sending-off offence of violent conduct that he committed towards the match referee is clearly insufficient," the FA said in their statement.
"In addition, Aleksandar Mitrovic's behaviour and/or language was allegedly improper, abusive, insulting, and/or threatening following his dismissal."
A precedent for possible punishment for Mitrovic is Paolo Di Canio's case, who was banned for 11 games in 1998 for pushing referee Paul Alcock to the ground in his Sheffield Wednesday's 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Other charges for Fulham
The FA has charged Fulham manager Marco Silva with abusive behaviour towards match officials and improper conduct after he allegedly threw a water bottle in the direction of the assistant referee during the game.
Fulham as a club have also been charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an acceptable manner in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester United.
