Victor Osimhen was sorely missed by Napoli who in his absence were soundly beating by an unusually ruthless Milan,

Milan were utterly ruthless against Napoli, who were without talismanic forward Victor Osimhen due to injury, beating them 4-0.

The international break seemed to have left a telling effect on I Partenopei, as the usually impregnable fortress that is the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium served as a slaughterhouse for the Rossoneri against their lacklustre hosts.

How it happened

The end result was probably foreshadowed by how shabby Milan started, with their visitors looking more determined.

Rossoneri took an early lead in the 17th minute, with Brahim Diaz setting Rafael Leao, who made no mistake with his finish.

The former Man City man went from provider to scorer, putting Milan 2-0 up in only 25 minutes of the game.

Napoli had attacks of their own, including a late flurry in the first-half but they seemed to be lacking a cutting edge, something Osimhen usually provides.

Milan made it three roughly 15 minutes after returning from the break, with Leao, whose contract situation is still up in the air, grabbing his brace after he was set up by Sandro Tonali against the run of play.

The scoreline became even more embarrassing when Alexis Saelemaekers made it four in the 67th minute.

Napoli tried to salvage pride by reducing the deficit, but they did not manage to do so.

The result takes Milan into third place, leapfrogging Roma and Inter, while Napoli, despite the crushing defeat, are still sitting healthily at the top of Serie A.
