As a result of the Gunners' draws to West Ham and Liverpool, Manchester City are only four points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal who started the season on a high and have been top of the table since the start of the season are on the verge of losing their top spot to Manchester City who are trailing them with a four-point difference.

Arsene Wenger's previous advice is now being used by manager Mikel Arteta to aid Arsenal's quest for the Premier League title. If Arsenal defeats Southampton tonight, their lead might grow to seven points with City having two games yet to be played.

Arsenal injury worries

With the season gradually coming to an end, Mikel Arteta's side has been faced with a number of injury concerns heading into the title run-in.

William Saliba, for example, is still out with a back issue. The French defender hasn't played since Sporting CP eliminated Arsenal from the Europa League last month.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was also absent from the squad for the 2-2 draw with West Ham last weekend as a precaution, but he could play against the Saints this evening. Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu have also been sidelined for the rest of the season.

Think of the process of how to play says Wenger

Arteta shared the piece of advice former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger gave him prior to the game that is igniting their current title chase.

Wenger, speaking earlier this week about Arsenal's title race, said, "When you start thinking about the need to win rather than the process of how to play. That's when things get difficult."

Arteta said he was being told the same statement during his playing days at Arsenal and that he tells his players the same thing.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Spaniard said: "He used to say that all the time to us and it's very, very true.

"We always say it. Look after the next ball and what is in the process. Play the game well to deserve to win it and the result is an outcome of what we have to do - most of the time! Unfortunately, not always in football but most of the time. When you are focused on that, the rest usually comes in the right way."
