Lionel Messi was at his absolute best yet again following his heroics for Argentina during the international break, coming of the bench to lead Inter Miami to victory against New England.

Lionel Messi once again showcased his brilliance, scoring a hat-trick to help Inter Miami secure a dominant 6-2 win over New England and clinch the Supporters shiled while also securing a palce in next years' Club World Cup.

Coming off the bench in the 58th minute, Messi quickly made his presence felt with his contribution Miami break the MLS regular-season points record, finishing with 74 points, surpassing New England's 2021 record by one point.

The game saw Miami come back from a 0-2 deficit, with Luis Suarez scoring twice before halftime to level the score cancelling out Luca Langoni and Dylan Borrero's strikes.

Messi’s introduction marked a turning point, as he picked out Jordi Alba, who set up Benjamin Cremaschi for a crucial tap-in.

Messi’s individual brilliance shone as he extended Miami’s lead to 4-2, receiving a back-heel pass from Suarez and firing it into the far bottom corner.

His link-up with Alba led to his second goal, and he completed his hat-trick by finishing a cross from Suarez with a first-time strike, sealing a memorable performance and clinching the Supporter's Shield.

According the Mirror US the result means the Argentine will get the chance to face Europe's elite clubs yet again as Federation of International Football Association ( FIFA) president Gianni Infantino announced that Miami qualified for the Club World Cup.

"Therefore, I am proud to announce that as one of the best clubs in the world, you are deserved participants in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as the host club representing the United States."

"It's sure to be a great celebration for global club football as the tournament features the best 32 clubs in the world and provides a new opportunity for clubs, players, coaches and fans alike to take their stories to the world," he added.

Top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, PSG, Inter Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are all expected to feature in the tournament.

This edition will feature an expanded format with 32 teams and is scheduled to take place in the United States next June and July.
