Umaru Kasumba netted the only goal of the game to give the coastal outfit maximum points.
The magic of Mathare United interim coach Sam Koko fizzled out in agonizing fashion after visiting Bandari fc performed a smash and grab at Kasarani Annex to collect three points in a lunch hour FKF Premier League kick-off.
The home loss ended Mathare United's three-match winning run that saw them down Kenyan giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. Bandari had other ideas as their six-year dominance was further entrenched by their ever green forward Umaru Kasumba in the first half.
The Ugandan international got on the end of a crisp James Kinyajui pass before sending a powerful shot past a helpless Brian Opiyo in Mathare United's goal.
Mathare were restricted to shots from range forward with dependable forward Daniel Otieno pulling one wide of the left post on 28 minutes before Levin Odhiambo blazed a free-kick well over the crossbar from a long way out 10 minutes later.
Curtis Wekesa went closer from a set-piece of his own at the half hour mark that just cleared the target and Bandari were good value for their one-goal lead at the interval.
Mathare coach Samuel Koko made a double change at the beginning of the second-half as they looked to grab an equalizer.
Chris Opondo came on for Douglas Koech and midfielder Elijah Mwanzia replaced Juamaan Khalid.
Hassan Abdallah threatened to double their advantage nine minutes into the second half with a volley that flew inches wide of the left post after Andrew Juma had picked him out inside the box.
Eight minutes later, Mathare midfielder Keegan Ndemi turned on the edge of the Bandari box and unleashed a powerful shot which narrowly missed the target.
Bandari made two changes afterwards bringing in William Wadri and Joe Waithira for James Kinyajui and Amos Asembeka.
Mathare had two big chances moments before the hour mark. Francis Waruru missed the ball six yards out with the goal gaping, and Elijab Mwanzia also spurned two opportunities.
Bandari did not sit back in the closing stages of the game as they pushed forward in numbers through the likes of Siraj and Rodgers who are goal-scoring defenders.
Ultimately, the game ended in a 1-0 victory in favor of Bandari in the afternoon with Mathare failing to break a six-year jinx against the coastal side.
