The eleven-time champions entered the match as favorites, considering the quality and experience in their squad, but they were eliminated by the little-known outfit.
In a thrilling yet nerve-wracking encounter, Denmak's goalkeeper Omar emerged as the hero, saving crucial penalties from Gor Mahia's skipper Philemon Otieno in the initial rounds, followed by a decisive save against Enock Wanyama in sudden death.
Despite the setback, McKinstry emphasized the team's readiness and dominance during the match, lamenting missed opportunities.
"We are very disappointed as we have put a lot of preparations into making sure the team is ready. We dominated the team and created good chances, but their goalkeeper was the man of the match," he stated.
