Mariga will chare the seven-man comitee to guide the new Federation under new President Hussein Mohammed during this critical transitional period phase.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has taken a significant step towards ensuring stability and progress by establishing a seven-member Transition Ad Hoc Committee to guide the organization during this critical phase.

The committee, formed after deliberations by the National Executive Council (NEC) in December, is tasked with maintaining operational continuity and preparing the federation for a seamless transition.

The Transition Ad Hoc Committee will be led by new FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga as Chairperson, with Women Representative Kerubo Momanyi serving as Deputy Chairperson. Bernard Lagat, Upper Rift FKF Branch NEC Member, will take on the role of Secretary.

The remaining committee members are:

Charles Njoka Njagi - (Eastern NEC Member)

Robert Macharia (Central NEC Member)

Ahmedqadar Mohammed Dabar (North Eastern NEC Member)

Peter "Kass Kass" Kamau (Lower Rift NEC Member)

The committee has been entrusted with the following key responsibilities:

Facilitating Operational Continuity: Ensuring essential functions and systems of FKF remain unaffected during the transition.

Preserving Institutional Integrity: Upholding transparency, credibility, and FKF’s commitment to its mandate.

Preparing Incoming Leadership: Equipping the new NEC with the tools and understanding needed to manage FKF’s affairs.

Capacity Building: Strengthening FKF’s administrative and technical capabilities for sustainable growth.

Forensic Audit: Conducting a comprehensive audit of FKF’s finances and human resources to bolster transparency.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed expressed confidence in the committee's ability to fulfill its mandate, describing the team as capable and well-equipped for the task.

Search for CEO continues

The committee will begin its work as the search for a new FKF CEO goes on.

The position has sparked differences among NEC members. The lucrative position, considered second in power only to the presidency, has become a contentious issue.

One faction, representing the majority, supports an internal appointment in line with a pre-election pact, while another faction advocates for an open and competitive recruitment process to attract the best candidate.

Among those reportedly vying for the CEO position is Collins Otieno Bob (popularly known as Bob Junior), currently serving as the Chief Officer of Blue Economy and Fisheries in Homabay County. Otieno is seen as the frontrunner due to his experience and reputation.

Another contender is Harold Ndege, a retired Kenyan footballer now employed by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
