Mbarara City need to win their remaining game and pray Kitara to falter again for a chance to be crowned champions of the StarTimes FUFA Big League.
Sadiq Ssempijja is now confident that his team can challenge Kitara for the StarTimes FUFA Big League following their vital 1-0 win away in Soroti City on Thursday.
Sunday Geoffrey headed the Ankole Lions into the win midway the 70th minute to lift them from the third place to second.
They have collected 51 points, one behind the top spot currently occupied by Kitara and Ssempijja thinks his boys have what it takes to pull it off.
“We’re looking at promotion as our first priority but we want to add the trophy as well,” the coach told Pulse Sports after the win.
“We have to win our remaining two games at home and make sure that we also get the points in our final away game. That is our target,” he states.
Mbarara City plays host to Adjumani and Nothern Gateway at home with an away fixture against Kaaro Karungi sandwiched in there in their penultimate game.
