Mbarara City had been scheduled to host their Uganda Premier League matches at the Bombo Barracks after Kakyeka failed the initial club licensing tests.

Newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League club Mbarara City will host their 2023/24 matches at Kakyeka Stadium.

The team had been scheduled to host their league matches at the Bombo Barracks but FUFA has confirmed that Kakyeka has been cleared.

“Yes, the venue was approved, but we are waiting for the full report from the inspectors,” the Uganda Premier League manager Paul Kabaikaramu noted.

Mbarara City, alongside fellow returnees Kitara FC, had earlier been forced to shift temporarily to Bombo and Masindi Stadium, respectively, but the former will now return to their home.

Arua Hill had also been forced to move to Kavumba, but they found another option in Adjumani, while Busoga United will temporarily use the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Ankole Lions open their league campaign against NEC on Friday 15th September, at their home ground in Kakyeka.

League debutants NEC FC have shifted their home ground from Bugoloobi Coffee Grounds to the astroturf at Lugogo as Gaddafi returned to the Gaddafi Arena in the changes ratified ahead of the season.

Mbarara City’s first five games;

September 23rd: vs Express (A)

October 3rd: vs Vipers (H)

October 19th: vs Busoga United (A)
