Despite early chances for Real Sociedad, as they threatened to overturn the tie in front of their home fans at the Reale Arena, it was PSG who asserted dominance, as their superior individual quality made the difference on the night and in the tie.
How it happened
Kylian Mbappé, making a notable return, opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a powerful strike that temporarily halted the game to fix the netting. Mbappé continued to threaten, narrowly missing a second goal after a Bradley Barcola assist, denied only by a great save from Alex Remiro.
In the second half, Mbappé showcased his brilliance once again, beating the Sociedad high line and delivering a thumping finish into the near post, securing PSG's spot in the last eight. Although Real Sociedad found the net late through Mikel Merino, it was only a consolation goal, coming too late to impact the tie significantly.
PSG's comprehensive performance ensured a smooth progression to the quarterfinals, maintaining their status as strong contenders in the Champions League.
