Tusker have signed eight new players in the window, but Matano has confirmed that two new players are set to be signed to help the side in its title bid this season.

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has revealed the club is working on signing two new players before the transfer window closes on Friday 15 September.

The Brewers have amassed four points from their opening two Premier League encounters, beating Bandari in the opening match of the season, before drawing 1-1 with Kariobangi Sharks in front of a packed Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

Tusker have signed eight new players in the window, but Matano has confirmed that two new players are set to be signed to help the side in its title contention this season.

“Of course yes. There are two of them coming,” Matano said.

The club re-signed Eugene Asike on a free transfer on a short-term contract after the Kenya international trained with the club for a while since returning from his stint in Sweden.

Quizzed about why he opted to bring back Asike, Matano said: “We need experience. We need someone who can guide others. He has been here. He was our captain and is a winner, so we need someone who can guide these young ones.

“We have to balance the team. We have to find balance with the senior players so that we bring that cohesion in that team.”

Meanwhile, Fabian Adikiny has started both Tusker games since signing from Murang’a Seal to replace veteran Humphrey Mieno, who left the club following the expiry of his contract in early August.

Matano has made his unwavering faith in the 23-year-old known.

“First half he was not himself but in the second half, he caught up nicely,” Matano said.

“I know and I trust him. He is a young, good player. I am going to give him more and more chances and I believe he will be okay after five matches.”

Tusker will face Kakamega Homeboyz away at the Bukhungu Stadium in the third match of the season on Saturday 16th September.
