Manchester United could offer Mason Mount their iconic number 7 shirt to persuade him to leave rivals Chelsea this summer, Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils made a second bid for the midfielder in a fee around £50m after their £40m first offer was turned down.
However, negotiations are still ongoing and the League Cup champions are likely to win the race for the 24-year-old.

The gist about the No.7 shirt
But in a bid to lure the England international to Old Trafford, United can use their priceless No.7 shirt worn by the likes of Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mount once spoke on the reason he took the No.19 shirt at Chelsea in 2019:
“It was my first number at Vitesse [on loan between 2017-2018]. I chose it because my birthday is on the tenth and I couldn’t wear number ten. One plus nine is ten!
“That was the only one I could get, and I was nineteen [years old] when I was there. I then went to Derby [on loan in 2018] and wore number eight and then I came back to Chelsea and all the good numbers were taken, but luckily I got that one back again.”
