Kylian Mbappe talks about his future, leaves option to continue at Paris Saint-Germain open.

France captain Kylian Mbappe has once again reiterated his desire to continue at Paris Saint-Germain next season.

The 24-year-old resurfaced in the news when he sent a formal letter to the Ligue 1 champions to inform them he would not be triggering the third-year option on his contract.

Mbappe's contract situation

The Russia 2018 champion signed a two-plus-one-year contract with PSG last summer after a protracted transfer saga in which he was close to joining LaLiga giants Real Madrid.

The player holds the sole right to trigger the plus one-year option, and after one season, he sent a letter to the club to notify them he would not take the option, meaning he would be available on a free transfer at the end of the next season.

What Mbappe said

His contract situation has started the rumour mills, and he is once again linked with Real Madrid, who need to replace Karim Benzema.

Despite PSG's stance to sell him this summer if he fails to renew, the Frenchman insists he will fulfil the last mandatory year in his contract.

Mbappe reiterated his position in a press conference for France ahead of their match against Greece, but his statement after suggested he could remain at the club beyond then, as he said anything could happen within a year.

“I have already said before that I’d stay [at PSG]. I have only decided to play at PSG next season. Many things can happen in a year, especially at a club like PSG," he told Telefoot.
