With Manchester United struggling in the Premier League, Amorim’s call to stick with his current squad could prove costly.
Amorim accepts risk of not signing a striker
Manchester United limited their winter spending to £31 million on defenders Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven but did not bring in a striker, despite letting both Rashford and Antony leave on loan.

Amorim admitted that while the decision was financially responsible, it came with significant risks for the rest of Manchester United’s season.
"I know when I chose this profession that you have the risk of results," Amorim said, adding, "Changing everything in the middle of the season without new signings is a danger for a coach. But I have a clear idea of what I want to do, and I take these risks because, in the end, it’s going to pay off."
)
Despite Amorim’s confidence in his long-term vision, United’s attacking struggles have been glaring. A recent 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace marked the ninth time this season that the Red Devils failed to score.
Amorim explains rationale behind Rashford exit
Rashford, who was a key figure for Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag, completed a six-month loan move to Aston Villa after falling out of favour under Amorim. The Lions will cover 70% of his wages, with an option to buy for around £40 million in the summer.
)
"What I say is I couldn't put Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and train the way I see it," Amorim admitted. "Sometimes you have one player who is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different."
Rashford had initially featured in Amorim’s plans, however, after being omitted from the squad for December’s Manchester derby, he only made one more matchday squad before his move to Villa Park.
)
Explaining the reason for Rashford’s exit, Amorim said, "The case was that some of the guys don’t adapt to the way I see football, and we are trying to build the team. It’s quite normal, it happened with a lot of coaches. The important thing is that I’m here saying it was my decision."
With Rashford now under Unai Emery’s guidance at Villa, the focus shifts to whether United can navigate the remainder of the season without a proven goal-scorer.
