Home sweet home - Manchester United face familiar bogey team Wolves with their Champions League spot in serious danger. Can the Reds avoid a third consecutive defeat?

The Red Devils are slipping back to how they started the current campaign following a couple of defeats in the Premier League. 

Two consecutive defeats have seen United’s top four hopes come under serious pressure from fierce rivals Liverpool who are beginning to look the part when it matters most.

Manchester United suffered a narrow loss to West Ham United the last time with David De Gea coming under heavy criticism for his howler against the Hammers. 

Manager, Erik Ten Hag has promised that the Spaniard will keep his position as number one as they look to bounce back at home.

The Reds are at Old Trafford later today where they hope to ease the pressure from Liverpool when they welcome a somewhat bogey team in Wolves.

Manchester United vs Wolves: Brief

Ten Hag’s United have had a full week of rest heading into a Premier League match for the first time this season. Now, that should give the Reds a bit of hope (shouldn’t it?) as they look to bounce back.

The defeat in London in the last game left most of the players deflated, with United firmly back in a heated race with the chasing pack of Liverpool and Tottenham for Champions League places.

However, they host a team, Wolves, that has only won once at Old Trafford since 1990, even though that victory came on their last visit to the venue of today’s game.

Unlike United, Wolves will be coming into this one in a positive mood after the win against Aston Villa saw them banish the ghost of that whitewash from Brighton two matches ago.

The away side will also be boosted by their positive result the last time they visited OT and will be looking to prey on the home side and their desperation to win.

Teams News - who’s in and who’s out?

In terms of team news, who is in and who is out, Marcus Rashford could be the biggest miss in this fixture.

Rashford picked up a leg injury and could miss the game at OT, with his injury the latest blow for the Reds.

EtH is already without five other players, including Lisandro Martinez. But in a major boost for the club, Raphael Varane could feature as he trained with his teammates following a long layoff.

Wolves won 1-0 on their last visit to OT and will be optimistic that they can repeat the same feat.

Prediction

While Wolves are a hard nut to crack for United most times, United are on a run of 26 games unbeaten at home and I expect them to maintain that record with a slim win.
