Wayne Rooney is reportedly close to taking over as Birmingham City manager after leaving his job at MLS side DC United.
Rooney left DC United last week and was immediately linked with a return to English football.
Birmingham City parted ways with John Eustace, who oversaw 21 wins in his 63 games in 15 months at St. Andrews.
Rooney close to Birmingham job
According to MailSport, The former Everton, Manchester United and England star is now in advanced talks with Birmingham's US owners and their chief executive Garry Cook who has close links to Rooney's agent Paul Stretford.
The report further states that things could move very quickly allowing Rooney to be installed as new manager before the end of the week.
Birmingham are currently 6th in the Championship, coming off back-to-back wins.
