Birmingham City have sacked manager Wayne Rooney after a poor run of just two wins in 15 matches.
Wayne Rooney's dismissal comes in the wake of mounting criticism from fans, heightened by a 3-0 loss to Leeds United on New Year's Day.
Wayne Rooney sacked by Birmingham City
With only two wins in 15 matches since assuming the role in October, Rooney's tenure at St Andrew’s concludes with a string of disappointments.
The calamitous chapter, initiated by chief executive Garry Cook's decision to appoint England's all-time leading scorer, has ended in massive failure.
The ninth loss in 15 games under the former Derby manager saw the visitors stay in 20th place in the Championship and that was the final straw.
At the start of October, Birmingham sacked John Eustace to bring in Rooney, when the Blues were sixth in the Championship, now the England legend departs, leaving the club 20th.
