Manchester United could lose another key player in January as defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka contemplates switching his international allegiance to DR Congo ahead of AFCON 2024.

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been approached by DR Congo to represent them at the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024.

The Athletic reports that the 25-year-old is still yet to make a decision but is considering the opportunity, which would mean a switch of international allegiance from England.

If Wan-Bissaka accepts the chance to play for DR Congo, Manchester United could lose him potentially from January 13 to February 11 depending on how well the team performs at the tournament in Ivory Coast.

He made a single appearance for England’s Under-20 side in 2015 and has since gone on to play for both England’s Under-20 and Under-21 teams but remains unattached at senior level.

Wan-Bissaka came close to playing for England when he was called up by manager Gareth Southgate for a pair of Euro 2020 qualifiers in September 2019 but returned to his club with a back injury and has since never gotten another callup.
