Rashford has been on fire this season for Manchester United after getting maximum backing from his manager Erik Ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has explained the meaning of Marcus Rashford’s trademark celebration.
Ten Hag provided insight into the now-famous celebration in a trending video shared by a Manchester United fan account on the social media platform Twitter.
The Dutchman was talking about his superstar after he helped the Red Devils pug behind them the humiliation against rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
Rashford was back scoring after a bad day at the office at Anfield as Manchester United defeated Real Betis 4-1 in the Europa League round of 16 first leg on Thursday.
Ten Hag explains celebration
The 25-year-old opened the scoring at Old Trafford as the Red Devils quickly bounced back from a historic embarrassment at Anfield with an easy win over Betis.
It was Rashford’s fifth goal of the season for the Reds in the Europa League, taking his tally to 26 goals in all competitions.
Speaking on Rashford’s form, Manchester United manager, Ten Hag, noted while he has backed the forward, it is down to the Englishman who is in control of himself now and expresses that with his trademark celebration.
“I back him,” Ten Hag said in the video. “The coaches are backing him, supporting him (and) motivating him.”
“But in the end, he has to do it and I think he is expressing that very well by every time when he scores a goal he is doing this ‘like yeah, it's all in my head, so, I am in control.’”
Ten Hag and Rashford win PL awards
Meanwhile, it was a clean sweep by Manchester United for the player and manager of the month for February in the Premier League.
As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, Rashford was named the PL player of the month while Ten Hag took the managerial award.
The historic Premier League award came after a strong February from Manchester United which saw the club finish unbeaten in all competitions, with Rashford netting five goals in just four matches.
Ten Hag has now won the award for the second time since he arrived at the club last summer while Rashford won for the second consecutive month and his third this season.
