The young English midfielder beat stiff competition from some of the Premier League's biggest names to win the Player of the Year award
Manchester City youngster Phil Foden has become the fifth Cityzens player in a row to bag the Premier League Player of the Year award after beating off competition from a handful of stars to claim the accolade for the 2023/24 season.
Foden emulates De Bruyne, Dias, and Haaland
The England international joined teammates Kevin de Bruyne, Ruben Dias, and Erling Haaland in continuing Manchester City’s dominance over the Player of the Year award, as a player from the Blue side of Manchester has now been named POTY in the last five consecutive seasons.
De Bruyne claimed the Player of the Year honours in the 2019/20 and 2021/22 seasons, while Ruben Dias won the award in the 2020/21 season and Haaland was the winner in the last campaign.
Manchester City are now the club with the second-most winners in the award’s history behind Manchester United. The Cityzens have won six awards from five players, while the Red Devils have managed eight awards through six players.
Foden’s outstanding season for Manchester City
Foden has been the main driving force behind Manchester City’s push for a fourth Premier League title in a row, furthering the Cityzens’ course with 25 goal contributions (17 goals, eight assists) in 34 league appearances.

The 23-year-old midfielder beat Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk to win the first Player of the Year award of his young career.
