Mary Earps wins FIFA The Best Women's Goalkeeper Award
Mary Earps was announced as the best women's goalkeeper of the year 2022 at the FIFA Awards held in the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris, France, on Monday evening.
The award comes after an impressive European Championship performance, where her heroic goalkeeping helped England win the competition.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper only conceded two goals throughout the competition, keeping four clean sheets. Her exceptional contribution also earned her a spot on the Team of the Tournament.
Earps has also been influential for her club, Manchester United, helping them become one of the most dominant forces in the Women's Super League despite the fact that the club was only founded four years ago.
Earps beat out Chelsea and Germany's Ann-Katrin Berger and Lyon's Chilean shot-stopper Christiane Endler for the award.
