Manchester City star Julian Alvarez has responded to his manager Pep Guardiola regarding his future at the Etihad Stadium.

The Argentine has been linked with a move away from the Etihad after limited playing time at Manchester City.

Guardiola recently spoke about the possible departure of the forward insisting his agent will call when he is done thinking about the decision.

Alvarez, who won the Copa America earlier this month, is presently competing for Argentina in the Olympic Games in Paris. The attacker has had a busy summer.

Alvarez response

When questioned about his remarks on his future at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola responded bluntly, prompting Julian Alvarez to clarify he did not say "anything bad."

The 24-year-old expressed his disappointment at not being able to start for the team in the finals and seemed to imply that he will think about his future with Man City following the Olympics.

According to Daily Mail, Alvarez said, “Last season, I was one of the players with the most minutes at City. But... in the end, you don't like being left out of important matches; you want to contribute.

“I'll take my time to think about what I want for myself. We will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.”

During Man City's preseason trip in the United States, Guardiola was questioned about Alvarez's remarks.

The Man City manager responded bluntly, “I don't think about replacing. I knew he said he will think about it.

“Once he has finished thinking, his agent will call Txiki [Begiristain] and we will see what happens.

“I know he wants to play important moments, yeah. 'But the other ones [do] too. 18, 19 players as well want to play the big games.

“I read he wants to think about it. Okay, think about it and after that, he will inform us what he wants to do.”

In response to a question concerning Guardiola's response, Alvarez said he had not talked inappropriately about his circumstances at the team.

“I heard what Guardiola said. I don't have much to say about it,' Alvarez said, as reported by TyC Sports. I never said anything bad.

“I just said that I was going to think about it like I do every season to make an analysis of what happened last season, a projection of what may come.

“I always say that I am comfortable and happy at City, which is a great club. So I didn't say anything bad.”

The Argentine frequently had to settle for a deeper role or play second fiddle to Erling Haaland up front, despite scoring 36 goals in just two seasons.
