The African Nations Championship has come to life in Algeria following a goal-fest on day four.
The Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran provided the best entertainment on day four of the ongoing African Nations Championship, CHAN, in Algeria.
Mali and Angola once again provided the best viewing after they delivered a goal-fest during their Group D clash late Monday.
It was a six-goal thriller between the two sides after sharing the spoils following a 3-3 draw.
Three goals were scored in either half while three of the goals arrived in a blistering first 26 minutes.
Aurelio steals show
It was indeed the Laurindo Aurelio show after an inspirational performance from the forward.
Aurelio scored a brace and assisted the other goal but they were not enough to guarantee Angola all three points in their first game of the tournament.
Three time Angola led and three times the Eagles of Mali fought back to ensure a share of the spoils in the thrilling encounter.
The Game in brief
A brace in the first half Aurelio and second half strike by Miguel Viera for Angola handed the East African nation what looked like a comfortable 3-1 lead heading into the final 18 minutes of the game.
Mali's Eagles were still in the game courtesy of the goal by Haidou Sinyako, which initially cancelled out Aurelio's opener in the first half before the brilliant forward restored Angola's lead heading into the break.
However, it was an excellent late show from the Eagles that completely saw Mali deny Angola the win.
Two goals in the space of five minutes late on from Yoro Diaby and Ousmane Coulibaly saw Mali snatch an unlikely point in the Group D opener.
The latest goal-fest comes 13 years after both cpuntries played out an entertaining eight-goal thriller at AFCON.
Up next
Angola will take on Mauritania on Friday, 20 January while Mali will resume their campaign against Mauritania on Tuesday, 24 January. Both fixtures will take place at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
